    Here are some of the very positive comments made by previous participants, who attended this training last year:

    • Found it really worthwhile; Really useful; Really informative; Thanks, actually really helpful information; It’s really great to hear other people’s negative and positive experiences;
    • Good support services offered by FVA;
    • Good to think about things from a different perspective;
    • Chance to discuss questions ; Liked group discussion;
    • All very informative.

    Whether you don't yet have any volunteers or have been working with volunteers for a while, getting these basics in place will reap great rewards. You'll be able to head off any issues with volunteers not understanding their responsibilities and you'll be clear about yours.

    Included in the course:

    •    What is volunteering?
    •    What are the mutual rights and responsibilities of volunteers and organisations?
    •    How can I include volunteering when strategic planning?
    •    What is a volunteer policy and why do I need one?
    •    What should I include in volunteer role descriptions?
    •    What are volunteer agreements and why do I need them?
    •    What is the Volunteer Friendly Award?

    Who should attend

    Anyone who has, or is expecting to have, responsibility for recruiting/managing volunteers in their organisation.

    In order to offer places to as many organisations as possible, we are only able to offer two places on each date to members of the same organisation. If your organisation would like to send more than 2 people, please get in touch with us to discuss options with you.

    Cancellation Policy

    We ask that you give us a minimum of 48 hours’ notice of cancellation. If you do not attend and either do not cancel or give less than 48 hours’ notice, then your organisation will be charged £10.

    Accreditation Award
