Emergency First Aid at Work
When: 6.00pm-9.00pm, Monday 15 January 2018 Where: New Volunteer House, 16 East FergusPlace, Kirkcaldy, KY1 1XT This event is being organised by Fife Voluntary Action Costs Places for voluntary sector delegates (staff, committee members or volunteers) £60.00 per person Places for non-voluntary sector delegates are £75.00 per person
This course takes place over 2 half-day sessions on the 15 and 22 January 2018 from 6.00pm-9.00pm.
Who should attend? Staff who work in lower hazard environments, have fewer staff or where HSE guidelines indicate staff should be trained and hold a certificate in emergency first aid at work.
Course Content Includes:
The role of the first aider;
Communicating with a casualty;
Contents of First Aid Kits (and avoiding cross-infection);
Recording of incidents and accidents;
Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency.
To administer First Aid to a casualty who:
Requires cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR);
Is in shock;
Is wounded or bleeding; ◾Includes dealing with: minor cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns & scalds, small splinters.
IMPORTANT - CANDIDATES MUST BE PHYSICALLY ABLE TO CARRY OUT THE PROCEDURES DETAILED IN THE COURSE OUTLINE AND MUST ATTEND BOTH SESSIONS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR ASSESSMENT.
Casual, comfortable clothes should be worn.
Accreditation Award: Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate (valid for 3 years).
Availability is limited to 12 places and booked on a first come first served basis.
A minimum number of candidates is required for this course to run. FVA reserves the right to cancel this course if the minimum number is not met seven days prior to the course date.
