Inner Forth Landscape Initiative - Rediscovering Valleyfield Estate's 'Lost' Stables: Excavation
Created: 30/08/2017Within Valleyfield Wood lies the remains of a historic estate landscape, once home to Sir Robert Preston and the only one of its kind in Scotland.
Join IFLI, the Valleyfield Heritage Group and Fife Council on a community-led archaeological project to evaluate the remains of the stables complex which once formed part of the Valleyfield Estate, the only Scottish example of a landscape designed by Humphry Repton.

You don't need to have any prior experience - they'll provide you with all the necessary skills, knowledge and equipment. All you need is sturdy footwear and clothing appropriate for the weather and task.
This event, which takes place over 5 days (7-11 September), will not only allow the local community to have a go at practical archaeological work, but also allow this important piece of local history to be explored and understood.
