Greener Kirkcaldy - Handy Service (sessional worker)
Created: 22/11/2016Greener Kirkcaldy is a community-led charity, working on a local scale to benefit people and the environment. They are concerned about climate change, social justice and community development. They would like to see a future where everyone is able to heat their home affordably, eat well, and tread more lightly on our planet. They lead the 'Cosy Kingdom' partnership, delivering home energy and fuel poverty advice to tenants and homeowners across Fife.
The service helps people stay warm while spending a lower proportion of their income on fuel, and develops skills and confidence for participants to take more control of their energy use and bills. The team of Energy Advisors deliver energy advice work in south, west and central Fife, making home energy advice visits, delivering talks and workshops on saving energy, and attending events to raise the profile of the service. They also deliver a handy service, fitting energy saving measures in peoples' homes to increase energy efficiency.
Greener Kirkcaldy are now looking for an experienced Handyperson to work on a sessional basis to make home visits to households in, or at risk of, fuel poverty, in order carry out simple energy-efficiency measures. These measures include putting up curtain poles and thermal curtains, installing radiator panels, draught-proofing, and fit LED light bulbs as appropriate.
