Role type: Volunteer Steward Date: Tuesday 19 May Time commitment: 3 hrs 15 min
As part of their Early Years Campaign, "Take Time for a Story", Fife Council is organising an event on Tuesday 19th May to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most parents reading simultaneously to their children. Would you like to volunteer for this historic occasion?
Volunteer Stewards are needed* from 8.15am until 11.30am at the Michael Woods Leisure Centre in Glenrothes. Each Volunteer Steward will be responsible for a section of 50 participants. Initially your responsibility will be to help ensure the crowd are going to the right section upon arrival at the venue.
During the world record attempt, which will take around 3-4 minutes, you will also be responsible for monitoring your section of 50 people to make sure that parents are reading with their children. In this capacity, you will play an integral role to ensuring the Guinness World Record is recorded properly for evidence.
On the day, there may also be other duties at the registration confirmation desk such as collecting pre-printed tickets. All stewards will be sent a full briefing note prior to the event and will be fully briefed in the morning before the event is opened.
To register interest to volunteer at this unique and high-profile event, please email Linda Butcher with your name, telephone number and postal address. You can also read more about the event here.
