Wellbeing Volunteer - Scottish Huntington's Association
Created: 05/11/2014As part of the new National Volunteer Service, SHA Wellbeing Volunteers assist both individuals and families affected by HD in a wide variety of ways depending on the volunteer's own profile and preferences and carefully matching this with an appropriate person or group. Offering a unique opportunity, the SHA Wellbeing Volunteer can be offered a personalised and tailor-made experience, specifically drawn from the volunteer's own requirements relating to availability, skills, experience, expectations, etc. Activites could include befriending a person with HD, being a local travel companion, helping a local support group, providing a couple of hours of support for a carer, supporting people affected by HD to be actively involved in the decisions that affect their lives by assisting them at meetings and raising awareness of HD through local talks/events.
The Wellbeing Volunteer will be able to serve in their local area, the actual locations being dependent on the volunteer's individually agreed activities e.g visiting someone living with HD at home or accompanying someone to meetings or appointments elsewhere.
