Here are some excerpts and key highlights for third sector organisations.
Employability
- Deliver person-centred employability support, helping those who face barriers into work, with a particular focus on parents, helping to meet child poverty targets;
- Delivering Fair Work for all is critical and a top priority for the Scottish Government. They are committed to boosting wages by increasing the number of employers paying the Real Living Wage.
Health and Social Care
- Support infant and maternal health and keeping The Promise;
- Promote healthcare, active lifestyles, preventing ill health, and reducing health inequalities and poverty in collaboration with the third sector;
- Partner with the third sector to ensure consistency of provision and improvement in social care, social work, and community health support.
Children, Young People and Families
- Work with COSLA (Convention Of Scottish Local Authorities) to prepare schools and infrastructures for the expansion of the universal free school meal provision to P6 and 7 pupils during 2026;
- Publish the Scottish Government Whole Family Wellbeing investment approach to support the provision of preventative holistic family support.
Climate/Environment
- Grow the national network of Regional Community Climate Action Hubs, supporting local communities to develop place-based approaches to reduce emissions and become more climate resilient;
- Implement the Learning For Sustainability Action Plan to ensure all young people have the opportunity to learn about the causes and effects of climate change, and champion climate action.
Third Sector and Community Policy Commitments
- Building on the recent passage of the Charities Act 2023, the Scottish Government will work with third sector and partners to deliver the scope for a wider review of charity regulation;
- Review the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 to ensure it's fit for purpose, explore how communities can be further empowered, and improve community planning;
- Deliver place-based investment and community-led regeneration, investing £70m to help reduce inequalities and support inclusive economic development in disadvantaged and fragile communities.
