Making food fair: food, equality and social connection
Created: 30/05/2018It’s estimated that at least 24,000 adults in Fife experience food insecurity – not having, or not being sure of having, enough good quality food. Poverty is the major cause but there are other factors that contribute, e.g. access to shops, transport, equipment, skills and knowledge.
This event aims to:
• explore the nature and impact of food insecurity in Fife;
• highlight some of the ways communities and organisations are working to support people facing food crises, and to prevent these happening in the first place;
• provide an update on A Menu for Change, a national project working in three areas of Scotland - including Fife - to test different approaches to food insecurity;
• help develop an action plan for tackling food insecurity in Fife.
This event is for anyone in Fife interested in making food fairer – community food initiatives, Elected Members, staff and volunteers from across public services.
