Neurological Alliance of Scotland - How to Support Care Partners with Neurological Conditions
Created: 11/01/2024It is estimated that there are more than 800,000 unpaid carers in Scotland, which has a population of 5.5 million. Unpaid carers are recognised as supporting the very backbone of society, with the economic value of unpaid care in Scotland estimated to be £13.1bn per year, and yet the systems set up to support them are complex and time-consuming.
This is particularly true for those who care for people with a neurological condition. Supporting someone with a neurological condition can be particularly challenging for unpaid carers. Conditions that impact the brain, spine and nervous system are very varied and can have a wide range of impacts. Many conditions are poorly understood and have limited treatments. Access to care and support can also be very complicated and services are often lacking.
Who should attend?
This is an interactive panel event for Neurological Alliance of Scotland charity members and anyone who works at a carers centre in Scotland.
About the Event
Panelists each come with a different perspective, designed to cast a 360-degree look at how they can better support care partners of those with neurological conditions and to shed light on what it is to care for someone with a neurological condition.
The panelists are:
They will start with an introduction from each of the panelists, followed by a Q&A which will then be opened to the floor. The event will be recorded and made available to NAoS members and carers centre staff afterwards.
